About the event

Suggested Donation Minimum ~ $10 Beginner Belly Dance classes are for everyone from zero to some experience in belly dancing. The class lasts an hour and the movements could be described as a low impact workout. A lecture/introduction is always an important part of the class, and students could sit or lay down if they wish during this time, but we will be moving/dancing for most of the class after a little warm up. Comfortable clothes are suggested for freedom of movement and a hip scarf is optional.    Certified dance teacher specialized in Raqs sharqi (Belly Dance), focusing on Egyptian style. Sivoney started taking classes in 2012 and since then she realized that this dance is not like any other. The complexity and singularity of the movements and combinations make it beautiful and intriguing at the same time. Many of the movements look very difficult, but with the right instruction and approach can be done relatively easily and enjoyably. She became a professional dancer and has participated in many events and festivals along the years. As a teacher, she guides her students to make their own discoveries as the classes progress, helping them realize that something that looked so unreachable, can be accomplished if they work and let go of the "barriers" that made it look so difficult in the first place. Everyone is welcome in her classes, which start with a warm-up that prepares the body and you can expect lots of fun during the class. She loves to answer questions and make herself clear for the entire class, speaking English, and Spanish if needed.
