What is a story slam?  A Story Slam is a friendly storytelling gathering, often on a theme. While traditional slams involve judging and prizes, our version eliminates all competitive aspects, opting instead to gather friends together to share stories in an accessible, friendly, respectful setting. Check out Duke City Story Slam for another example of a local story slam that meets bimonthly.

Theme:  We’re leaving it wide open for our first gathering - we only ask that stories be appropriate for audience members aged 13 and above.

Format:  3 Featured Tellers ( 10 minute personal stories) and four open mic tellers for 5 minute personal stories ( names picked from a hat).

Storycrafting: We also offer a " Storycrafting" session on October 18 , at Blue Feather , from noon to 1:30. Storycrafting provides participants with the chance to test out a story idea, practice telling a story, and receive feedback at their discretion.

Producers:  This new storytelling event is sponsored by Storytellers of New Mexico, and produced by board members, Carey McDonald and Laurie Boyce. Information at: info@storytellersofnewmexico.org.

Admission: $5 donation requested at the door
