No Longer Competing for Attention...

There is an enormous amount of freedom in deciding that we are no longer going to compete for Attention.

Not for someone's approval, affection, recognition, friendship, business, or validation.

We spend so much of our lives looking sideways, measuring ourselves against someone else and wondering if we are enough. Enough to be noticed. Enough to be chosen. Enough to matter. Somewhere along the way, Attention became a form of currency, and many of us have been spending far too much of ourselves trying to earn it.

Competition isn't always obvious. Sometimes it looks like ambition or self-improvement. Sometimes it disguises itself as wanting to be accepted. We adjust ourselves just a little so someone will like us more. We soften something we believe because we don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. We watch what someone else is doing and suddenly question whether what we are doing is enough.

Without realizing it, we have handed someone else the measuring stick and asked them to tell us how tall we are.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to grow. There is nothing wrong with challenging ourselves, building something meaningful, becoming better at what we do, or working our tails off for something we Love. Growth is part of being alive. But there is a tremendous difference between challenging who we were yesterday and competing with who someone else is today. One comes from expansion. The other often comes from believing there isn't enough.

Spirit doesn't ask us to compete.

There is no cosmic leaderboard keeping track of who is more awakened, more successful, more worthy, more Loved, or better at being human. Spirit isn't standing at the finish line handing out trophies to the first five people who finally figure out enlightenment. Thank God, because some of us would still be arguing over the directions.

Spirit simply continues to invite us toward ourselves.

You were given this life to discover how your Mastery unfolds within every situation you encounter. Your challenges, your gifts, your failures, your victories, even the things you are still trying to understand, belong to your path.

We cannot reach our highest expression while measuring ourselves against another person because their measuring tape was never designed for us.

It was made from their experiences, their fears, their expectations, and their understanding of what a life should look like. It may not even contain the measurements necessary to describe where Spirit is taking you.

And maybe that is where Attention needs to turn around.

Maybe the question isn't whether they are paying Attention to us. Maybe the question is whether we have been paying enough Attention to ourselves.

That invitation becomes much easier to hear when we stop looking around the room to see who is watching. When our sense of worth becomes grounded in who we are rather than who someone else thinks we are, something changes.

We stop performing our lives and begin living them. We stop asking permission to occupy our own space. We stop negotiating pieces of ourselves in exchange for belonging.

That doesn't mean the opinions of others never matter. We can listen. We can learn. We can accept correction. We can recognize when someone sees something in us that we cannot yet see ourselves. But there is a difference between receiving another person's perspective and giving them authority over our worth.

Maybe the uncomfortable question this week is simply this:

How much of your Attention are you spending trying to influence someone else's opinion of you?

Notice where the answer takes you. Notice where you change yourself to be chosen, noticed, approved of, included, or validated. Notice where you are quietly competing in a contest nobody actually asked you to enter.

Then consider stepping out of it.

You don't have to win someone's Attention to prove your worth. You don't have to become more than someone else to become more of yourself. You don't have to convince the world who you are. Your life was never intended to be measured against theirs.

Your Mastery is unfolding according to a measurement that belongs uniquely to you.

Own who you are.

There is incredible freedom there.

Because eventually we discover that the greatest liberation wasn't finally winning the competition.

It was realizing there was never anything to win. Blessings, Love & Light...
